AllTourNative

Buenos diaz,

Ayer...a long day! The tour van picked me up at 6:30 en la manana and I didn´t get back till after 7:00. In those hours we drove and hiked through the jungle (didn´t see any monkeys, though), we rappled down into a cenote, zipped over an alligator-filled lagoon on a flying fox (zip-line), had an authentic Mayan feast and explored the Mayan Ruins of Coba. I was exhausted! This is the cenote we rappled down into. We were a group of 13 and our tour guide, a very good one, with the AllTourNative Tour Company. They do various adventure tours, combined with the culture and employ lots of native Mayan people into their activities.

Here are some ruins of Coba, I have more photos, but it is taking a long time to upload them. I still haven´t quite mastered my camera, though. I must read more about it today.

So, today, I´m taking it easy with a massage at a swanky, upscale resort in the hotel zone and hanging out at their spa. Not sure wht I´m doing tonight, there´s a couple of places I´ll check out on my way to the massage. I figure tomorrow, most places will be closed for New Year´s, so I´ll just hang out at the beach. On Tuesday, I´m off on another long day tour down to Tulum and Xel-ha for snorkeling. Right now, I´m getting a snorkel tour organized for later in the week, before catching the bus (6 pesos) to the hotel zone.

Prospero Ano Nuevo to all. Matt, are you watching the fireworks in Seattle? Dad or Mom, if you could, would you please check on my cats, Cap´t Jack and Hermione. I know Mary said she would, but just in case. Just check on their food bowls, refill the water bowls and flush the toilets for them, please. The house keys are in the same place, I´ll email that to you so the whole world won´t know where that is.

This is my home away from home. There is even a stove and fridge, but who wants to do any cooking! ; ]

Oh, Mom can you forward this on to Kristi and wish Betsy a Happy Birthday for me, please. Dad, hope you´re up and about a bit now.

Fw: On Mexico Time

Buen Dia!

I¨m checked in and situated here in Cancun. I didn´t get in till after dark last night, but still took a short jaunt around my hotel area. It¨s a great spot, less than 5 minute walk from the Commercial Store, internet, McDonald¨s and even emergency services! The internet was closed last night, so I couldn´t send anything till now.

The hotel is really quaint, I´ll post pics next time. It¨s like a hacienda , all the rooms face the inner courtyard which is like a jungle setting, lots of lush plants and trees around the swimming pool. The breakfast area is outthere also. They even do jugos de frutas natural! I had one with my breakfast. Getting a late start today, just because it was nice to sleep in with no responsibilities or chores to get done.

I¨m going to finish my recon of the downtown and the market place before heading out to the beach for the afternoon. Tomorrow I¨m on an all day Mayan Culture Tour including swimming in a cenote and visiting a Mayan village. I´ll try to post some photos the next day, New Year¨s Eve, I think.

Oh, yea, the weather is toasty humid, it feels wonderful!
